Foundation and Structural Work – GC Estimations
Foundation Plan Quantity Takeoff Using Bluebeam Revu
This task involved using Bluebeam Revu to perform a structural quantity takeoff from the foundation plan of a building. The process focused on identifying and measuring various concrete elements, including slabs, footings, and thickened slab edges, directly from the construction drawings.
Drawing Layout and Markups Overview:
The image shows a color-coded construction floor plan where different types of structural elements have been identified and marked using Bluebeam’s markup tools:
Highlighted zones represent areas like slab-on-grade, thickened slabs, and footings.
Specific construction notes, room areas, and materials like PRE-FINISHED WOOD FLOORING are also labeled for clarity.
Each color represents a different item type, making the drawing visually organized and easy to reference during estimation.
Markups List – Quantity Data:
The second image displays the Markups List panel from Bluebeam, where all measured items are listed systematically:
Each item includes:
Label (e.g., 6" Slab on Grade, Concrete Footing 20"x10")
Color code matching the markup on the drawing
Exact measurement (in square feet or linear feet)
Page reference (S1.1 – FOUNDATION PLAN)
Division category (e.g., Division 03 – Concrete)
This structured approach helps in:
Generating accurate material quantities
Supporting cost estimation and planning
Preparing reports that can be exported to Excel or other estimating software
Final Outcome:
All structural items have been measured and documented.
The plan is visually clear and data-rich, ensuring efficient communication with estimators, engineers, and contractors.
This method enhances accuracy and saves time in the construction documentation process.

Construction Site Planning – GC Markups & Annotations
Image 1: Site Plan with Marked Elements
This image displays a detailed site layout where we’ve captured and categorized key civil and architectural elements.
Using layers and color codes, we’ve highlighted multiple site components such as:
Parking strips
Concrete curbs (standard and rolled)
Dumpster gate areas
Entry/exit zones
Drive aisles and turning areas
Signages and utility zones
Each element is layered, color-coded, and labeled for easy reference, improving both communication and clarity during the review process.
Image 2: Layer & Measurement Table View
This screenshot provides a glimpse of the data backend in Bluebeam Revu, where all take-off measurements are logged with:
Layer Name: For grouping by trade or scope (e.g., GC – General Construction)
Label: Clear item identification (e.g., “6"x6" Concrete Curb”)
Page Reference: To trace items directly on the sheet
Color Coding: Each item assigned a unique color for visibility
Measurement Type: Lengths, areas, and counts as needed
Divisions: Organized per CSI Divisions (e.g., Division 03 – Concrete, Division 32 – Exterior Improvements)
